"Being a part of the Office of Survivor Support (OSS) greatly impacted my experience at MSU. I transferred to MSU after being at USM. I did not know anyone here but craved a sense of community. I never imagined I would find it at my practicum site, as it was a required part of my program. I figured it would be something I had to do to get to where I wanted to be. After my first week, I felt a greater sense of belonging than I had in my entire undergraduate experience. The effort the other individuals in the OSS put forth to make people comfortable is above and beyond what I could expect from anyone. I feel like I have a real community that has supported me from the beginning. My time at MSU would not have been the same had I not spent time with the OSS."

“There is nothing more empowering than being in a room with people that have shared similar experiences and undergone similar instances to get to where we are now, and being a part of TRiO at Mississippi State University has connected me with those students. I serve as a TRiO Ambassador for our first-years where I guide and assist them throughout their first year at our university. TRiO has served as a support to my journey and has given me ample opportunities. It has provided me with valuable connections to our staff who have served as mentors and led me towards a bright direction. The programs that I have attended have taught me valuable educational tips and lessons as well as life skills such as finance assistance and career preparation. I am truly grateful for every aspect that TRiO has lent to me.”

“One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned in college is that strong leaders make more leaders. During my time working with the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life, I have had the opportunity to learn from the amazing staff about what it takes to be a strong leader and how that translates into making people, especially fellow students, feel informed, included, and empowered. As the Interfraternity Council Director of Member Education, I have used theories and best practices that I have learned in the classroom to improve fraternity member wellness, leadership development, and new member education. Being able to draw direct parallels between my classroom learning and the world of higher education has helped me develop an appreciation for all the hard work that is put into making the student experience at MSU what it is. While I am not completely sure what the future holds for me, I am grateful to all the people who have poured into me and helped make my MSU experience thus far so fulfilling.”

"I had the honor of serving as the Director of Membership for the MSU Panhellenic Executive Council this past year, and I am incredibly thankful for the learning opportunities I was constantly provided. I believe that education involves not only academics, but also social, mental and physical well-being, so getting to be a part of an organization that cares so much about its current and incoming members was really encouraging. It was so empowering to see hundreds of young women support each other in every aspect, and getting to serve as a leader for them made me a much better person."

Her unwavering dedication to providing the highest level of care to each patient left a lasting impression on me. "I've had the opportunity to work with SLCE here at Mississippi State, specifically as part of the Montgomery Leadership Program. Through that program, I've had the great experience of working with so many wonderful people here on this lovely campus. I've been able to work with three community partners. I've helped freshmen working on a community project and done a capstone project myself. It's engaged me in leadership skills and allowed me to meet wonderful people. It's been a life-changing experience for me here on this campus. Through this leadership program and servant leadership, I've grown in my knowledge and abilities, actually getting out in the community and learning what it means to be a Bulldog leader here at Mississippi State University."

“My time with Student Counseling Services has been instrumental in learning how to put classroom concepts into practice. “Being involved in various organizations within the Center for Student Activities allowed me to learn so much more about myself and my interests outside of my education. It helped me make important friendships and made me feel more connected to the university. These experiences also showed me that the staff at MSU are so willing to be involved in the lives of students in multiple capacities and across several different departments. Being involved at MSU generated some of the best memories and experiences during my time there.”
